Most wireless printers will connect either by USB cable to the PC or wirelessly via a router. I have a Canon MP640 with which I am very pleased and which I use wirelessly. It sits in the corner of a room out of the way until I need to use it. The actual process is, when I click the print button, the PC sends the information to the router and the router does its job and redirects it to the printer.
