Print spooler service must be turned off - to boot

I have had to resort to setting pintspooler to manual and turning off before logging out

- else

When it boots up the start button hangs up - no internet connection. Mouse works - programs open -shut down never turns off. Have to reboot in safe mode and set the print spooler service to manual.

Once booted I turn the spooler on and everything works - printer prints.

So what do I need to fix so I can normally boot without all this extra effort.

Using XPS - Problem started when loaded Quicken 2008. My dell 962 ink jet photo printer would not print. Worked with quicken tech support until my printer stopped working all together - had to run restore just to boot up with problem described.

Realy do not care to ever print in quicken - some 60 hours later - I am still not back to when this all started.
