Print servers

hi all,

I run a technical department in the large format digital print industry, however we have currently recived a new machine which runs from a serial port on our computers but unless you have a 20 meter serial cable the machine needs to have a dedicate computer to run from.

we also use a lot of print servers running of our network and the new machine has a parrel port (good) but the software only allows use with a com port. does anyone know if you can fool you computer to think an ip adress is a secondary com port, any advise apreciated, thanks
