print screen again

I can capture an active window OK using print screen or key strokes, paste etc, but no way can I print the whole desktop in WIN XP. As I read it just pressing SCREEN PRINT should copy the desktop? Or am I wrong as usual

the print screen button takes a snapshot of your desktop

press it, then open paint and ctrl+V (paste)

Nope just pressing print screen should do the job

Then paste in a suitable application such as paint

also, if you want to capture a specific window, make that window the active window, hold alt and then press print screen
