Primary Hard Disk Self Test and and it says #1- 07

I have a problem with my laptop. It is a HP Pavillion DV6000 with Windows XP. I've had it for a while and it's been working fine, but for the past 2 weeks, it hasn't been able to start up. When I turn it on, it boots up fine, but when it tries to go to the desktop, it gets stuck at a blank black screen. I went into the setup utility and ran a Primary Hard Disk Self Test and and it says #1- 07 Fail. I have no idea what that means nor how to fix it. Can anyone help?

Either your hard disk is dying (or dead) The first code indicates that the device connected to channel 1 has failed.....Not that well up on HP's so unsure about the 7. For more info:
