I will be building my own PC from scratch soon and have selected a Gigabyte motherboard (prescott ready) and an intel P4 3.066 prescott processor. Is this a good choice and will I be better to add extra cooling devices to my system as I have been reading that these CPU's run a little hot. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

The cooler the better - if in doubt, get the extra devices

If you intend putting SP2 on your o/s(assuming you are going to use xp home/pro)you might want to check this as I seem to remember that there was an issue/problem with it and prescott cpu's.
