Getting a new PC with XP PRO in about 10 days and would like to do a bit of reading up in advance.Done the usaul searches but maybe their is a site that can prepare me for the pitfalls as I will be a complete novice to XP?

Any advice/help greatly appreciated. The hassle I had with my 1st pc a few years back has never left me!!

This is a good site for XP, especially the Services guide, which this link will take you to

My god what a question !

There are so many sites you can look at but The Elder Geek is very good.

There are many others but it's best to just play around with XP and see what you like and what you don't like.

Which O/S are you currently using ?

You could also buy or borrow from the library one of the books covering all aspects of XP - it's usually much easier to look something up in this form than online; XP's Help and Support is also, as usual with Microsoft programs' Help sections, both thorough and comprehensive.

When you get it make sure you have got all the critical patches installed. There are still machines being sent out that will let the MS_BLASTER viurs shut them down.

Don't worry its a piece of cake to use

I personally don't like the "Teletubbies" interface but it's very easy to set it up like older versions of Windows if you prefer.
