Prefetch data deleted?

  caspertoo 22:44 10 Dec 08

I reinstalled windows xp as i was having problems. When it installed i added all the updates from microsoft, which included service pack 3. Prior to installing updates my computer booted up real quick as it should with a clean install. But after it could take anything up to 5 minutes, i ran ccleaner, avg and spybot. They found nothing, i also unticked virtually everything from the msconfig section. I then installed Tune up utilities 2009 and on system status it said oneproblem, this was something called Prefetch data, it said they were deleted. My question is where can i get them from to put back?

You do not need it and it will be refreshed as you use the computer.

There are many reasons for a slow boot and this lot of threads should give you some here

I delete windows/prefetch files before I do an acronis backup. There are no problems if you delete them at any time, they reflect programmes used when browsing etc. David
