Powerpoint 2000 Inserting MPEG videos

I am using PowerPoint 2000. I have some MPEG videos which I want to insert and these are currently stored on CD. I have inserted these successfully from the CD and they then work. However, I want to copy the MPEGs onto my hard drive to remove the requirement to keep the CD in the drive. When I copy the MPEGs onto the hard drive and then try to insert them into PowerPoint, I get an eror message saying that the videos cannot be inserted because they are not recognised or QuickTime is installed. This cannot be the case because they work from CD.

Can anyone explain what is going on or how I might get round it? It's very annoying!! :-)
