Powerline/Homeplug question

A year or so ago I got a pair of homeplugs of a make I haven't seen recently. I plugged them in and they have worked excellently with no setup required - gives my son's xbox a rock solid connection.

I was thinking I could get more homeplugs for other rooms.

My question is, can I buy other brands e.g. Advent and start sticking one in each room, or do they need to match, or be synched in some way to, the one that is currently attached to the router?

Does nobody know if you can mix and match different brands of homeplugs?

Will I have to just spend the money and find out the dear way perhaps?

There is a protocol defined;

Interoperability

The alliance certifies products for HomePlug compliance. Devices marked with the certification mark will interoperate with each other. However, they will not work with proprietary powerline technologies from Panasonic or DS2 which both offer similar speeds.

As ever with Wikipedia though, not everything is to be taken as 100% accurate.
