I was pleasantly suprised that, when I copied the files on a DVD to a folder on my C drive, PowerDVD played the film perfectly from the folder, although the menu links didn't work. This didn't matter as the film was al that I was interested in.

I thought I'd have to get some fancy ripper to enable me to do this.

You need a ripper if you want to write it to a CD or DVD as normally commercial DVD's hold more than the PC DVDs.

Not really legal though.
