power unit problem

the power unit blew. used a temp one which worked ok but would not fit flush in the case due to a case rivit [power unit slightly larger]. bought a new power unit which spun the fan in the power unit but did not do anything else no post bleep or any other signs of life, put the temp unit back and fires up & loads windows ok. repeated all this twice again but same result.

1]does this sound like i have bought a dodgy power unit, [will take it back tomorrow].

2]or is there an easy way to remove a silver rivit.

Hi, I would definitely change for another new PSU.

Sounds like a faulty PSU. Don't touch the rivet - just take it back and tell them what happened.
