Power supply - Which one

Hi - I need to install a new power supply in my computer. It's a Compaq Presario 5000 running Windows 2000. I cannot find out which one to buy.Can anyone help.

The wattage should be on your old one. Best get one a little more powerful, and remember a more expensive one will be better.

I think they are pretty standard as regards the shape.

Do a search for PSU on Maplins site for an idea.

Thanks for this. One problem is that the computer is off site and the user has no idea how to find this out. Even if I told them they couldn't do it. Is there a way of finding out without looking at the original?

Be careful in your choice. Some companies like Presario and Dell (and others) use non-standard components and you may find that an off-the-shelf PSU may not be suitable.
