Power Supply + Graphics Card consumption

I want to inatall a Powercolor Radion 9600 SE card in my Compaq.

The Compaq PSU is only 250watts.

I've trawled the web for details on the power consumption of a Radeon 9600 grahics card, and found no answer. Its not in the documentation of the card itself.

Anyone know where the answer might be?

I suspect the card is drawing too much, resetting the motherboard, and preventing recognition. A 9200 series card worked OK

Is there a non-Compaq (ie cheaper) source of PSU which would fit - the main motherboard connector is 24-pin, whereas standard PSUs have a 20-pin plug.

Got a 9800 pro running in a hp rated 240 w max without any tramas. (also fully compliment of dvd burners, cd writers and hard drives)

Powercolor Radion 9600 SE Card will take about 54 Watts.

I would upgrade to at least 400Watt PSU

Thanks skugo, My system was playing up, used the power calculator, and I am just within the limit (Have 350w , require 327w). Going to Upgrade asap.
