Hi,
Old Win 98 SE machines power supply died.

Need to know what is required and how to use said equipment to recover data from old hard drive.

I have a Laptop running XP Home.

Any ideas please would be a great help !!

If you are sure it is the PSU it has to be worth trying a replacement. Cost from around £15 DIY
That way you will have two computers once again.

Try one of these it will connect your hard drive to your laptop and you will be able to recover your data.

I have had a laptop die in a similar way, have put the old drive in a USB caddy and can see the drive contents.
However, directories created in Docs & settings by other users with passwords and set private are not accessible, even with as many admin privs that I can find. Any ideas how to get at these?
