I think the power supply in my packard bell club 80 has blown. When i switch on the power the fans and cd drives start but switch off after 2 seconds, pushing the on button doesn't start the computer either. I have checked all the connectors but still no luck. On the bottom of the power supply it reads "ouput:145w" does that mean i have to buy another 145w power supply or can i go for a 300w from maplins?

2 second fan start stop sounds like either

1. PSU
2. MObo
3. CPU failure

A 145W output is very small a larger out put will not hurt.

You could go for a bigger one as long as it has the same connections on it - likely that it has.

Buy a cheap one - I'm not so sure that it is a powersupply problem but can't make a better diagnosis.
