I have a windows xp home edition laptop. i also have sp2 installed.

When i boot up from cold and even when i restart my laptop the power and sound control icon do not appear in the system tray at the bottom right hand corner. i have to go to the control pannel and click on the power, advanced, untick "show the power the power icon", click apply, I then have to repeat this by ticking the box to turn it back on, it then appears.

I have to do the same with the sound.

Any ideas?

Is 'Hide inactive icons' in operation? Right click the taskbar, Properties.

I have experienced that some of the icons in the system tray would not all load, seems to have ironed itself out though, alls fine now without my intervention.

Then there should be a < in the taskbar, click on that may reveal the icons.

it does not reveal them, i have restored the system, but not sure whether it will sort it's self out.
