my laptops poweer supply is connected to the DC inn it switches from being charged to running on battery. If i move teh lead it keeps on doing the same and ive used 3 power supplies to determine that the fault lies with the DC inn. Does anyone know where i canget it fixed or does anyone know if i could repair it, the laptop is about 3 to 4 years old XP home edition and at the moment i cant buy a new one any ideas.

My guess is the fault lies in a socket which is either broken or strained. If it was a motherboard
component it would be unlikely to be affected by cable movement.

IF:
You feel competent to open the case.
AND
You can gain good access to the socket.
AND
You can see any sign of a crack and movement of part.
AND OR
You can see an imperfect joint which needs resoldering. (Such sockets are usually motherboard mounted, and not visible both sides at once)
AND
You can with a multi meter check for a break in the circuit while wiggling the cable slightly.
THEN
You may be able to repair the laptop.
ELSE
It is doubtful that it can be repaired economically, but make sure the battery is charging if you leave the computer alone for a while and switched off.
