power connection

Just installed an ASUS K8V SE Deluxe with various other new upgraded components. No problem. The manual says that as well as the standard 20 pin power connection I MUST connect a 4 pin ATX+12V power plug located on the m/b or the system won't boot up! They have not supplied it (retail box) and my power unit, despite having a couple of extra power leads and standard 4 pin connectors available, isn't fitted with this 4 pin plug required. Can you buy these adapters and cable to connect to a standard power connector? if not is there anything else i can do? Does the system really not work without it?

It must be because it's a 64.AMD don't usually use this extra feed. The psu needs to be a P4 type to get it.
