Keep in mind how cheap (and much improved) scanners are now. A suitable scanner psu will be quite expensive.

Yes agree with ton, if a power adapter costs that much you could buy a brand new scanner working off USB with no power supply needed for roughly the same price. Look at Canon Lide 20 or Mustek 1200 both work from USB with no power supply needed around £35. Try this site click here or click here I have both the Canon and the Mustek scanners on two computers and have had no problems at all
