Potentially silly question about range expansion..

I have a 3com Office Connect ADSL Wireless Router at home, and am pleased with how it works. Unfortunately due to the layout of my flat, and the fact that some walls appear to have been contructed with three feet of lead (possible exaggeration there - but they are damn thick!) I have a couple of "dead rooms" where i cannot get a signal. I have just been given a Linksys WAG54GS from a relative who had upgraded his equipment at home, and was wondering if I could use this in some way to exend my own wireless access.

I'm kind of guessing that I couldn't say, plug it into the phone socket upstairs, and have two modems connected to broadband at once...(or can I?)
but could I configure it to simple act as a repeater/range expander in tandem with the 3com?

I hope that makes some sense...
