Having succesfully deleted what i believe was the w32.randex.e virus (See here click here?
go=discuss.thread&threadid=114138&forumid=1) I stupidly left my firewall down and was almost immediately infected by the same virus. should i read anything into this. Is it resident on a site I regularly visit or something similar ???

Anyway having got rid of it again I went to turn system restore back on again and the machine just hangs indefinitely every time I try to uncheck the box. Any ideas anyone ?

It may still be there. Do an online Housecall scan, leaving your onboard av and firewall on: click here

You need to install the Microsoft patch click here

Then remove the virus.

VoG - I was up to date with all my Microsoft security update

MichelleC - Thanks very much. Housecall identified the Randex R as well as another trojan and had very precise details for removing them. They are now deleted and system restore is reenabled
