In windows 98se the port speed can be set in the Device Manager but there is no where to set it in XP that I can see without going into the Registry. how is it done.

In Win98 it can be done in the Win.ini file but XP as nothing in there for speed

Is this for a modem?

Device Manager

Right-click modem, Properties.

Advanced tab, Change Default Preferences.

Yes Dial-Up, it's not the modem connection speed it's the transfer speed I want to se as in Old Win98se Device Manager ports Defaults to 9600 when windows is loaded but I have found that on My connection I get the best download speed if it's set to 19200. The modem is not altered and stops on 115.000
