Port 8080????

  Gaz 25 02:27 19 Feb 03

If it is open is it safe?

  y_not 05:52 19 Feb 03

click here seems to list which trojan uses which port....and 8080 is there!

Obvious question is what AV software are you using?

Have a look at GRC.com - they supply a little download to test your firewall called "Leaktest" simple but effective way on ensuring that yoour firewall is working okay

it shows PORT 8080 OPEN. Now Microsoft tell us to enable a firewall that does not block port 8080, now that is mad.

I think for sense of security I will revert to my good Firewall.

click here for a list of ports.

That is the port that is open.

As I said in my answer to your very similar question about XP's firewall last night, Steve Gibson's site explains the concept of a 'stealthed' and 'open' port.

See the FAQs at click here and click here

Port 8080????

  powerless 17:16 19 Feb 03

If you want to test a specific port click here then on the left click "Advanced Port Scanner".

Then click on "Start Test"...

Then click "Continue"...

Then choose "TCP SYN scanning" and then click continue...

Now check the circle next to "Scan desired ports and/or the range of ports", then enter "8080" without the quotes.

Then click "Continue"!

Port Status

8080 stealthed

Zonealarm's Alerts and logs...

MY test > "ZoneAlarm prevented access to port 8080 on your computer"

What happened?

"ZoneAlarm has prevented a connection to port 8080 on your computer. This was most likely a port scan by a remote computer trying to find out if you are running a proxy server or a web server."

  Gaz 25 17:18 19 Feb 03

but does it scan ALL ports including 8080?

  Gaz 25 17:24 19 Feb 03
