Porn spam

Hi,

For some reason I seem to have been targetted to recive a load of porn emails, I always delete them and then recently I used the outlook message block system and yet I am still reciveing more and more.

Is there a way of sending these emails to the police or some such body that is 'cracking' down on porn sites? And is there a way of stopping getting them in the first place. I would like them to stop, and if possible help the people who may be trying to close the email and porn sites down, what can I do?

Thanks
Michelle

there is'nt much you can do, but use all the spam blocking systems available to you. some always get through. just never answer them. always delete them.

And never "unsubscribe" - that will confirm to them that they have hit a real e-mail address.

I receive VERY few porn spams on my main email address, but I receive loads on alternate email addresses which I use when visiting or registering on the 'net'. 'nuff said.

There is little hope in blocking them as they use alpha-numeric addresses that can change hourly.

*Podium mode*..... The Internet is a free, world-wide service and long may it continue as such. However Pr0n is the downside. The important thing is that, as we live in a free society that many people have fought for, Pr0n will occur as there is a large market for it...sorry but it is a plain fact.

99.99% is NOT illegal. In the UK it is not illegal to advertise MOST Pr0n and I suspect that most of your stuff is of this sort. If it is of well dubious nature, you can report it to Plod but as most of the servers are based in hell-holes like Lithuania you will be wasting your time. Best advice is to take an adult attitude and hit teh delete button and worry no more.

On the bright side it is better than millions being spammed by adverts for AK 47s' or Uzis.......... <political rant over>

get mailwasher, enables you to preview the email before downloading them, delete's then automatically then can black list any further email's, or even bounce them back so it looks like the email address isnt valid.

Hi,

Thanks, I wasn't too bothered at first, untill I started to recive emails regarding child porn! Up until then I had always clicked delete and put a block on that particular email.

I agree many lives have been lost in the battle to allow freedom of life and speach. And we are fast approaching another time when our freedom is being questioned. I do agree tracing the emails and closing sites down is not going to stop these sites from re starting somewhere else, as one is closed another 10 open. And all I can do is use the delete button.

It is sad that I am part of the human race that has some members who enjoy looking at child porn, adults have a choice; a voice, a child does not. In years to come, and even today if we were or are to be judged by the way we treat our children we are not exactly humane. (my rant over!)

If its child porn print details and hand to police they hopfully will be passed to the department dealing with this subject

It is a big worry that unsolicited porn can be sent to your home computer and then be accessed by any member of the family, only last night i checked my e-mails at home and one was titled "barbie" as my 10 year old daughter is a big fan i instantly thought it was for her (she belongs to the barbie fan club) something though made me open it and lo and behold it was full of teen porn!, now imagine if my daughter had opened that!. If this sort of material was put through your letter box every day can you imagine how quick action would be taken by the goverment? and yet it is the same thing.
Put aside the constant "why do they keep sending this to you" comments and the nagging belief that my wife thinks all i do is surf for porn. I have so many address's in my blocked sender list it is untrue, and yet they keep coming. Kinda makes life a chore sometimes
Oh and yes i never use my domain e-mail address when i am visiting sites

Hi everyone. Just been reading this thread while waiting for an answer on another one.
I have never had this problem so its good to know what to do if it happens. I am on the net a lot but never without my Firewall - is this the reason I am spared? Michelleuk, have you never contacted your server with the problem or thought about changing your email address?
