Surface Pro 5 News - release date, UK price, features, specs
can somebody please tell me how to stop annoying ad popups, which have started appearing on my computer whilst online or reading emails. this problem first started when i downloaded 17 updates for my computer, from the microsoft update site and installed them. i have avast4home anti-virus, sophos anti-virus/rootkit, pctools firewall plus, wincleaner anti-spyware,admuncher, plus the usual microsoft software programmes like popup-blocker etc, installed on computer. after running my security software and cleaning up what needs cleaning if any, i am still getting the popups which seem to be accessing my computer with ease, nothing seems to be stopping them. any advice is appreciated. thankyou
As VoG says use the host file,
I get no pop up or adverts and it helps fight against viruses/Trojane/etc
thankyou for your advice, i have downloaded the free version of superanti spyware, installed it, and ran it, no threats found. i have replaced my other anti-spyware with this super antispy, i hae also changed my firewall to comodo firewall pro whic includes a malware scanner after install i ran the malware scanner which found two items, unknown malware (dirty) (ID=c:\windows\msrstrt.exe) and also trjan hrse DELF.CXW(ID=o G:\downloads\software\nero7 premium reloaded V7.10.0\keygen by cim.exe, Both threats removed from system. only time will tell if they are the cause of the popups and ifmy new software will stop it. until then i am keeping this thread open. thanks
following on from my latest post. popups still occuring, just had antispyware page popup, ad page blocked by ad muncher but i reported page just incase, this is not one of the pages i am signed upto, other pages popped up inlast 24hrs are, kinglotto and something called celerado or similar sounding name.
Probably better going to the Malware Forum and downloading HJT from there and posting your log to that forum. They are busy so it may take a few days. But they will help you clean up your computer.click here
Or try this.3rd last .click here
thankyou for your response, i downloaded dr web cure it, i ran the quick scan and it found something called Dove Virus, 1 hacktools found and deleted called htpatch.exe. i thought once this was sorted it would be the end but unfortunatly it was not, i am still getting pop ups, nothing so far can touch them. ihave a post on malware removal but this is taking to long to get answer, posted yesterday before posting on this site where i get a quick reply if there is time. i am seriously considering remoing everything from my system and reinstalling everything, but that probaly will no work until i find th real cause of the pop ups. i have installed super anti-spy yesterday but that cae back clear, i was forced to remove my anti-virus software so that dr web could run, what a waste, dr web scans from the web and does not run permanently from my desktop. I have encountered errors when downloading dr web. i am totally lost for curing this problem.
Another chap downloaded and ran A Squared and that got rid of his pop ups.It might work for you.Full scan will take an hour or more.
click here Forgot to post it.It has 3 settings 1st takes about 4 minutes second about 25 minutes and the 3rd just over an hour.if you download it make sure you update it before running it.
