Pop ups

I am allowing pops from one site I use regularly - (a gaming one) however recently whenever I go into any website on IE I get a pop up or advert for the type of site I am in. For example, if I am searching an airline for a flight, I notice on the Task bar there are another one or two pages that have opened for different sites but same category. How can I get rid of this happening. Easy understandable jargon please.

Normally if you put your username and password into that site to open it.Internet Explorer normally asks if you want it to remember your p/word and user/name just tick yes in the little square.I would not think that you would need to allow pop ups just the cookie.
