We have a linksys cable wireless router for our virgin internet. The desktop via a belkin usb picks up a good signal. One Acer laptop has no problem. But a newer Acer laptop struggles to keep a good signal and loses connection. Is there any way to boost the wireless reception maybe via a programme or a download for example.

Nothing to lose as it backs up the existing configuration and is easy to restore.

Make sure that you 'modify all wireless adaptors'.

Try changing the "channel" on the router.
Also make sure it's (The laptop) set for maximum performance for the wireless card in "power options".
Default settings should be fine unless they have been altered, but the "power saver" plan may be set to reduce wireless speed/power. Just a thought... change the channel first.

Did it work ?
The address that Halmer gave above, you type directly into the top line of the browser, not into google or anything :)
The channel will be changed via one of the menus, maybe an "advanced menu"... consult the router documentation or google the model number of the router.
