Poor DVD/Video quality on Samsung HD Monitor

Hi

I have an HP Desktop with nVidia GeForce 7500 (not a model number that is on the nVidia website may I add) graphics card and a Samsung 20" SyncMaster 206BW Monitor with HDCP compatibility. At first glance the monitor's display is fantastic with a clear picture and vibrant colours, however when trying to play an HD video (such as on the Apple movie Trailers website click here)or even a normal DVD, the video appears subtly grainy and the shading transitions are not as smooth as they should be....

I thought perhaps this is to do with the graphics card, or maybe the monitor is too good for what I'm using it for, but surely I should be able to watch a standard DVD in DVD quality?

can anyone help?

Thanks
