Poor DVD picture quality/playback

System: Windows ME, Athlon processor, 256meg of RAM; Pioneer DVD-ROM 114; NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 Model 64 graphic card.

My son's Pc is fitted with a bog-standard DVD player which once worked fine on the above system. However, I think he's mucked around with a setting as the standard of the picture is now appawling.

All I can say is that it now looks like a TV with very bad interferance/flicker.

Thinking that the DVD drive was packing up I replaced it with one that I knew worked ok, but that made no difference.

I've tried changing the screen resolution; graphic card refresh rate; looked at the settings with the DVD software, but nothing makes any difference.

Any ideas anyone??
