Please save me from the madhouse !! Graphics ?

Hi all - everytime I start up my PC I get flashing vertical lines down the screen about an inch apart - if I reboot (sometimes a couple of times) they disappear but ALWAYS appear on the first start-up which is obviously really annoying making reading characters pretty difficult.

They largely disappear when I actually go into browser mode with just some characters having a bluish tinge and some very small lines following my cursor around. Like I said its worse on the windows screen when you first boot up.

Is it the graphics card ? If not what else could it be pls ?. I am fully Kaspersky'd up so don't suspect a virus but who knows.

Thanks for any help

try removing the graphics card and pushing it back into position

also update your drivers for the card.

Assuming this is a dedicated graphics card on just the the built in graphics on the motherboard can you not just go into the bios and enable the onboard graphics and then plug the monitor into that port, will tell you straight away if it is the graphics card/the port it is in
