This may be already known by several people, but the problem is apparently worstening. Several programs being downloaded as utilities or whatever have been written using a programming tool which is on a trial basis. Unfortunately, this means all software compiled using this software also has a date stamp on it and they expire at the same time.
The usual culprit is something called CPR.
If you keep getting error messages like "invalid date" in internet exlorer or MS office, go into add/remove programs and uninstall CPR.
Then go into c:\windows\system32 and delete cpr.dll This usually solves all problems.

madPentium - do you have any details of which utilities might be involved?

I'm not quite clear about how deleting a .dll file is going to make any difference to the problem.

Id this only applying to 'freeware' programs or is this 'in there' to ensure people pay for the program after an 'undisclosed' trial period has finished ??

So the actual problem is that the Spyware may have been written using a now expired trial of Delphi. Because the Adware is disabled so i the software its associated with....

Basically yes, but I did read somewhere while surfing the net that some amateur software writers are writing utilities using a trial delphi. So basically, you have to keep a note of these and if you see the error message unselect them one at a time in msconfig (if they autostart) to find the culprit and then uninstall it. Depending on the program, you get different messages. Some programs seem to display "invalid add", "invalid date", "unable to open" etc etc. It seems to screw up windows and stop many applications from opening. In the end the internet ceases to work too.
