Playing wma files on a CD player

I've downloaded an audio track onto my hard drive. It is wma format and plays fine on my computer. However, I want to play it on my portable CD player. Copying it directly onto a CD disc does not seem to work. Do I have to convert it to another format? If so, which?

I have tried doing a search, but all I seem to find is how to convert to mp3.

Thanks
Pete

you need to burn the disk as audio then no probs will play anywhere.

Thanks for that - I have asked the "Sonic now" program to set up the disc as an audio disc, but when I try to drag and drop the wma file, it says that it is not a valid wma file. Any ideas?
