Playing games from an external harddisk drive

  *Gary* 17:01 02 Apr 03

At the moment I am playing games using a laptop which only has a 40gb hardrive. I have seen that there are USB2 and Firewire external harddrives around which some even running at 7200 rpm. Due to the fact that games are requiring increasingly more harddisk space, I am just wondering if it is it possible to install and play games from the external drive or whether the games have to be installed on the same drive that my windows xp operating system is installed on? Thanks!

Think you might be out of luck. Programs wont run correctly from an external drive. Might be the same for games....all to do with loading at Boot up, and paths & stuff. Still, you could always give it a try. You certainly wont break your machine!
