Put the DVD in and see what happens! If you're given any prompts then follow them.

If your laptop has software on it to play DVDs as Dan the Doctus has suggested just putting a DVD in may start it playing. The two most popular DVD player programs are WinDVD and PowerDVD. If you don't have the required software then you would have to buy it.

If you don't want to buy WinDVD or similar, you could just buy a DVD codec for WMP instead. Costs less, and will be almost as functional.
