Playing AVI. clips on DVD player

Hi all,

I have several small movie clips (AVI. files) created by Canon Ixus V3 camera that I want to burn to DVD so they can be played on a domestic DVD player. I've tried just copying them to DVD, but they wont play, I get the message "Data file". I'm sure this can be done. I'm just having a foggy head day today, and I need to do this today so don't have too much time to experiment and figure it out.

Win XP Home,

The Problem here is the great variety of Domestic
DVD player firmware- and it is difficult to establish which player will do which.
I have been making V-CDs, DVDs and straight CD's
of a slide show of a holday - for friends and family
to view on their own machines.
Broadly speaking it seems the 'Cheapo' plays seem to fare better than the more expensive ones.
I have had to have 2 sometimes 3 goes to suit one particular player.
So pass your disc around to your friends with other makes of player -see what happens.

Thanks Jack,

I've solved the problem. Just been trying Nero and it seems to do what I want (converting files).
