Got this message when I tried to play a DVD on my notebook. Tried changing the settings with no luck any ideas?
Managed to get it to work with Media player classic but sound was very quiet.
Settings 1280x800 (tried them at 600x800 and those inbetween)colour 32 (tried it at 16)
XPsp2home ATIX700
Playback failed due to a problem with the video subsystem. Lowering your screen resolution or color depth may fix the problem

Have you tried reinstalling/updating the drivers?
What did you try to play it with before WMP?.

The drivers for your graffix card,as it seems to be a video problem, even doing a direct x test may point you in the right direction.Type dxdiag
into the run box and run the tests.
