Play Microsoft media player fullscreen

When I try to play Microsoft Media Player in Fullscreen mode I get an error message as follows:-
'To use Full Screen command, you might need to adjust your Windows Display settings. Open Display in Control Panel, and try setting Hardware Acceleration to full'
Needless to say I have tried this and it still won't play 'Full Screen'. There is also an advice to access the Microsoft web site but the information there is arcane to say the least. Can anyone supply instructions for 'Full Screen' mode that mere mortals can understand please?

I suspect that your video card may not be powerful enough to run a full screen mode for some reason. Try reducing the the screen area pixels - may help.
