pioneer dvd rw 106d

hi. using xp with this burner. it burns cd's no problem but i cannot burn dvds at all. nero 6 says that the disc is completed but when i try to play the disc it is unreadable, nothing shows up on the disc yet properties say it is full. also tried using cheetahcd same issue.
have upgraded the firmware with no success.
any ideas? thanks in advance

Are you using 'branded' discs or did you get them cheap ones from the market ?

You should only use discs that are recommended by Pioneer.

It indeed colud be wring sort of discs - so try buying singles of several recommended brands to try.
It could also be the burner program.
IMHO Nero six is a bit of a monster, and you can run into trouble various ways. one example is I am given to understand is that Nero disks that come OEM
with a particular drive are patched for that one drive model and will not function properly if another drive is substitued, For this and other reasons I have dumped Nero in favour of
CD BurnerXP Pro 3 a freeware burner that is very simple to use. Look at click here

Also make sure your operatingsystem[XP] is disabled
to overcome any conflicts
