Pink Problem

  dregn 06:20 25 May 04

Overnight my wife's PC has developed a pinkish cast in a lot of programs.
In MS Word the page is white but background is pink.
Frames in Windows are pinkish.
I have tried every tweak in 'Properties/Appearance/ etc but to no avail.
I am undecided as to whether the problem is with the Monitor ( NEC TFT ) or Win XP Pro.
Any ideas appreciated.

Make sure you have the correct monitor selected in the device properties list and the correct colour profile is loaded.

or maybe

Check the monitor setup/OSD for a setting called temerature. Try the various settings.

You could try disconnecting the monitor from the pc (switch it off first) and then reconnecting it. Often works with this sort of thing.

Have you had any strong magnetic fields close to the monitor, such as unscreened speaker units or even a vacuum cleaner?

Usually the answer is to degauss the monitor but many do this every time you switch on - you'll hear a sudden buzz as it kicks in.

Thanks for all those suggestions, much appreciated.
I have been away for a few days but will try the fixes when our weekend visitors have departed and report!
Many thanks.
