Hi there, i have a shared internet connection at home via a linksys gateway. I want to set up a network for file and printer sharing etc. However pc2 sends and receives 100% of packages from laptop 3 but laptop 3 doesnt receive any of the sent packages when i use ping command. Can someone please suggest why this is happening and will it prevent me from setting up my network??

Please help

Kind regards

What operating systems are you using and have you installed firewall software?

I would try it with the firewall disabled, also check that XP's own firewall is disabled. Whenever I network my laptop I have to turn of Norton, I am sure their is a way around it but never realy needed to as don't network my laptop that often. Perhaps try Norton website. If it still doesn't work, can you ping the other way?

What happens when you try and send data to the laptop? Also, can you see the laptop in network places? If you can what happens when you double click on it?

its ok, ive sorted it. Windows put its own firewall on the wireless card things, sorry about that!
