Picky DVD drive

Don't know if anybody can help.
I've got a Toshiba SD-C2502 DVD-ROM drive in my laptop that has become very picky about playing CD's with no problems playing DVDS.Usually I have to get the disc just right to get it to play.
Any easy fixes for this or is it a replacement job(And how easy is it to do.)?

Possibly a dirty laser which can be cleaned with a standard CD cleaner (the CD laser is different to the DVD laser, hence the DVD works ok).
