Photoshop Elements 6

What I hope is a simple question as to a use of Elelments 6.
I have various coloured scans which I put into Elements. This includes various colours (probably no more than 3/4 colours)but I just want to show an edited image that shows the black colours only with the other colours being white/transparent. I have tried using the magic erasers but because the coloured parts lie alongside the black parts it is exremely difficult to be precise enough to just get rid of the colours.

Any ideas??

Thanks
Russell

The really simple way would be to use the Magnetic Marquee Tool to select the black. Then invert the selection and fill with white.
