Photoshop Album V2 -Something more up to date?

I have been using Photoshop Album V2 for some few years now and have about 4,500 photos that were tabbed and catalogued within Photoshop. As I have recently reformatted my hard disc and started re-installing programmes back on to it, (in the process revamping the other disc drives)with having to reinstall photoshop Album I will also have to relocate all of those photos. The question is - what is a more up to date application that wiil do the same. i.e. tabulate each photo so that a particular holiday, event, person etc be located quickly?

Picasa from Google is pretty good and will allow tags to be set - something like what you need I believe. click here

Had a look at Picasa but understand that you can not find the photo tag unless one creates a web based album.
Am I wrong?

Sorry, I'm not sure as I only used it for web-based albums.

This will serve as a bump and maybe someone can help.

Thanks for reply. I have subsequently obtained Photoshop Elements V6 that does everything that I was looking for.
