When I download photos from my camera they appear in display properties under desktop background. How can I stop this happening and remove them from desktop background

the best way to look at this I think is to at first relate what should happen.
You are on XP - Yes /No
You have the camera software loaded Yes/No.
Here goes
If you are on XP- the camera when plugged into the computer will be recognised as external drive in My Computer. Open the drive and you will see the photo folder from the camera -NO CAMERA SOFTWARE NEEDED.
This software can be and often is a stumbling block.
If your are on XP and the Camera software is loaded.
Remove the Camera software and let Windows do the work.

you should really start your own thread, but try a Card Reader.

Yes start your own thread.
but the answer is as stated in my first input

If you are running XP
Then you do not need software

Simpley- plug camera in,
Switch on. ensure it is in the upload/display mode [read the manual]
Go to My computer.
You will see another drive displayed in addition to those you already have.
Open it.
Open the folders therein
Theres yer pictures
Assumin of course you put a film in the camera
