phone interference

  totalyuseless 01:00 22 Mar 07

Hello, I wonder if anyone can help me.

I have recently had a wi fi orange set up installed so that my daughter can use her laptop in her room.

The problem is that the telephone line that the orange box is plugged into is in my bedroom and the phone in there has so much interference on it now that I could not hear a thing on it today. They are both plugged in to the same socket with an adaptor. The other phones around the house work but are very very hissy.

Anyone got any ideas? Thanks.

Have you got filters on all the used 'phone sockets?

Hi, as beeuuem says, you must have a filter on everything that is plugged into a phone socket.

We're referring to ADSL microfilters, as shown as the first item on

in case anyone's not sure.

(Seems like a very good price from this supplier too).

this click here explains it quite well

My guess is that the phone line itself is in need of some maintenance.
A poor or corroded connection can wreck everything. Time to ask BT to investigate?

If you have a direct wired in phone in the house, not a cordless phone and it is noisy too, then that in my view would be the clincher.

Try a quiet line test:

Wow, what a knowlegeable lot you are, stuck a filter between the ansaphone and the socket and the phones are working fine again.

Thank you so much.

I have another question now but will start a new thread for that.
