pest patrol is it safe?

I have a friend with some strange unknown error messages that are showing
'Product PPSDKRedistributables-error 1335'

A Google is indicating Pest this ok, or is it suggesting something a little darker?

Yes. It's also part of the New Netscape 8.1.2 Browser

It's a Ad Catcher, Killer

I use the full version - purchased it before CA bought out the company. the free version can be found here click here

As Woodchip says it is an ads killer works in background.

I spent 10 minutes on her machine today that is getting many blue screens of death. I asked her to send me the error reports (I'm no expert, but have a little idea) after leaving.

It came up clean after scans with Avast and Ad-Aware. Some quick maintenance that was over due was given too.

A Check disc is needed too I think, but I think there is a conflict going on. I have some error codes that the blue screen was showing...shall I post them here tomorrow or on a fresh link do you think?

Thank you,

Here's the other bits of info. that seemed relavent off the blue screen.

I have googled around on this, but have not so far come up with anything solid.

0x00000024 ntfs.sys.F76FB6DB base at F76C1000 datestamp 41107eea.

Disc check went ok, av scan was clean, ad aware scan was clean. I don't recall seeing Pest Control in the add/remove...might this be causing an issue and giving the bsod?

Any thoughts folks?

It does not show in my add remove or MSCONFIG.

Ok, just off to bed. A late one for me.

Walked her through CCleaner and Regseeker. Managed to find (if I recall correctly after a while on the phone PestPatrol using ccleaner and remove it via the remove option.

Time will tell if (after the reg. clean too) things are more settled and back to normal.

Thanks for looking in and thinking about this with me.
