Peripheral device to back up hard drive instantly?

Someone recently described a peripheral device to me, which could conveniently back up the whole hard drive at the touch of a button - any suggestions as to a make/model would be very useful, as I've had to reformat my harddrive several times over the last year, and have ended up losing stuff that I wanted to keep.

Flash Drives, instant backup,no moving parts, and a card reader can be bought for peanuts(£20 -ish)The various cards(SM,etc)are cheap enough now.USB,unplug and take with you, plug into next pc(needs XP to avoid driver install)and open in Win Explorer.

I should have known instantly what you meant,I have a Card Reader. ;-)

Freecom external hard disks (FHD) come with some 'one touch' incremental synchronisation software which I think utilises the MS Briefcase. I've got one of their disks but use my own steam powered batch files for backup instead.

Thanks a lot for the pointers - much appreciated!

I'll check em out and see what works best for me.

Cheers,

Tony
