Pentium or Athlon

It used to be said that a computers Hardware and Software would run less problematically with a Pentium processor than with an Athlon processor.

Is this still true with modern processors?

click here .Personally I would go for the Athlon and save money. Any difference in benchmarking is either perceived or not visible by mere mortals. benchmarking is not the best way of determining any hardware's process speed. Bit like asking if a Nikon lens is better than a Canon lens.

Totally agree with Gandalf, go for the athlon and save yourself some money. In the real world there's not much difference.

As to where you heard that its rubbish as far as I am concerned. But you takes your money and buy what you think make your choice. Stability depends on a lot of things but the CPU does not make a lot of difference in that score, The motherboard as more of a part to play when it comes to your question. And it does not mean that you will get the best stability by buying the dearest motherboard
