PDF links blocked by IE 6 for my safety! (NOF)

This may be a problem for me only with NOF, versions 8 or 9.

When previewing the very simple site I have built and checking links to updates in preview all of them PDFs), an IE frame opens with a clear message that the rest has been blocked for my safety! On clicking "allow blocked content" the thing develops normally.

Once published, this blocking does not occur on the website anyway, but I would appreciate advice on how to eliminate this interference during editing.

IE6 (and 7) blocks local active content by default - or content that it deems to be active. Previewing content in IE from within NOF will trigger this. Change IE's advanced settings to permit active content in local files.

One reboot later all is sweetness and light!

With hindsight I guessed it had everything to do with IE, but since I shelter under the Nanny wing of Aol I am unfamiliar with IE for most proceedures.
